Technical Project Manager (Kenya)

The Technical Project Manager is required to manage all Solar PV
projects by driving the project development, procurement, construction,
commissioning, handover, and operational phases of the project. Moreover, The
Technical Project Manager is expected to play a key role in allocating technical
resources across projects as well as managing stakeholder relationships, project
scope, schedules, costs, and quality.
Responsibilities and
Duties
The Technical Project Manager will proactively support the wider team’s
core technical execution and operational activities including (but not
necessarily limited to);
- Project scheduling, reporting, scope of work
development and management, contracts management, subcontractor adjudication,
selection, appointment and management, logistics management, equipment
ordering and procurement, and client relationship management.
- Assist in the development of new Technical
Department Working Procedures (TDWPs) and the ongoing management and
improvement of existing TDWPs.
- Ensure all installations comply with
International Best Installation Standards.
- Development, planning and management of
department tools, plant and machinery, and documents.
- Ensuring all working
environments are safe and employees are sufficiently trained in accordance
with the provisions of Section 18(2) of the Occupational Health and Safety
Act of 2007.
- Assist, train and develop a young and
enthusiastic team of Construction Managers and Solar Technicians.
- Manage the technical resources required to 1)
execute and deliver on our growing pipeline and 2) manage and operate our
existing portfolio of solar assets.
- Maintain stakeholder relationships (Internal and
External).
- Feedback project learnings to the internal
stakeholders ensuring continual improvement.
Knowledge, Skills and
Attributes
- Have a proven track record (At least 5 years) in
similar technical roles, managing the technical facets and lifecycle of a
project from inception to closure. e.g. related to solar PV, CHP, energy
storage, wind, and green hydrogen.
- Self-starter and Results-oriented: Proven
experience in working to deadlines with limited guidance.
- Lead the technical function including but not
limited to engineering, project management, and asset operation and
management.
- Able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding
of the Technical Lifecycle of Renewable Energy projects in emerging markets.
- Demonstrate the drive, vision, and professional
resilience required to build a technical team.
- Demonstrates a collaborative working style.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Punctual with excellent time management skills.
- Holds a valid A1 Electrician Wireman Grade I or II
License (Other certifications will be considered).
- Holds a valid T3 Solar Photovoltaic Technician
License (Other certifications will be considered)
- Registered with the Engineers Board of Kenya as a
Professional Engineer will be preferred.
- Experience living and working in Africa (ideally
1-2 years minimum).
